“Anti-LGBTQ” law: even the Bible could be banned since it contains homosexuality
As Daily News Hungary already wrote, the new anti-paedophile law put the LGBTQ community at a disadvantage, as the law seems to censor every LGBTQ-related content and makes everyday life difficult for LGBTQ people. Most recently, the president of the Association of Hungarian Publishers and Distributors said that now, even the Bible could be sold according to the new law.
According to the new law, it is forbidden to showcase products that depict and identify someone as different from the gender indicated at birth. The self-serving depiction of sexuality is also forbidden. Products like these are forbidden from being sold closer than 200 metres to schools, child and youth protection institutions, and churches. There is a smaller book distribution network with 12 of its 15 stores falling into this category.

Katalin Gál, president of the Association of Hungarian Publishers and Distributors, directs her questions at lawmakers, requiring a definition of the terms used to describe homosexual content, such as what the “self-serving depiction of sexuality” or the depiction of homosexuality actually means, writes Telex. She said that implementing the regulation is completely incomprehensible. Then, the president of the Association of Hungarian Publishers and Distributors added that
In the case the law is very rigorously interpreted, even the Bible could be banned from being sold without covered packaging, separate from the rest of the books, because even the Bible contains parts about sexuality or homosexuality.
Meanwhile, Medián conducted research about the public opinion regarding homosexuality in Hungary, reports 444.hu.
The survey shows that the majority of Hungarians would not like it if the government decided what can be taught in schools at sexual education programmes, and they would support young people to hear about sexual minorities. Based on the representative research involving 1,000 people,
66 per cent say it is right for young people to hear about sexual minorities as part of the school curriculum, and 82 per cent say it should be decided when and how they hear about the subject according to the young person’s age and level of maturity.
The survey asked people about homosexual couples as well. It turns out that marriage equality is supported by 59 per cent, with 69 per cent thinking that same-sex couples can also be good parents.

It contains references to homosexuality since it is clear it opposes it and views it an an aberration or even a sin. You have to use terms to mention or describe something in order to even take a position against it. Taking such a position as that of the Association of Hungarian Publishers and Distributors has mindlessly uttered shows just how shallow and inane they are. Fools and ignoramuses.
Cardinal Peter Erdo – presented with yet another OPPORTUNITY to stand out front – representing the VOICE – of the 43% of the Hungarian population – that have been Baptized into the Faith – of Holy Roman Catholic Church.
Cardinal Jozsef Mindszenty and Saint Pope John Paul 11 – the “favored” or hero Pope of Cardinal Peter Erdo – they would not have been SILENT.
The question and challenge AGAIN gets put to you – what are we going to Witness from YOU – as our Voice ?
Matthew 11 : 30 –
“For my Yoke is Easy but my Burden is Light”.
Cardinal Peter Erdo – led us – Carry the Cross of Christ Jesus – all that through his pain and sacrifice – he endured for US – that we ALL could receive given New Life.
Well lets leave church out of it I avoid said places as they all self-serve, bottom line of this new law is just political and Viktor knew it would grab headlines to divert from the up coming elections and put the EU in the bad peeps of Hungarian life..
Oh he also said sorry to the people of Hungary for raising taxes to 27% when borrowing money from the IMF which stated in the contract they had to raise taxes and make parlement smaller..
But Hungary has repaid said loan and has not reduced the VAT.. lets ask the right questions.
Maria Von Theresa before: the bible is the most important book ever written, every word is sacred
Viktor Orban: we must ban the bible because it’s gay
Maria Von Theresa now: I agree. It’s vile how it promotes homosexuality. Orbán is 100% right, I have always agreed with him on this.
Hahahaha Jesus f@..Christ. Do you realy campare the legistlation with the Holy Bidle? There must be some serious mental short cuts in play here. Why not move to Sweden or the US. Perfect place for you!
Orban – The Saivor of Europe!
The bible is cobbled together from stories passed on by word of mouth turned into documents written by different people in different places at different times, translated and retranslated, edited and amended and tweaked to suit whichever pope was in power at any given time. It has some nice parables but it’s a story book, that’s all.
For Heaven’s Sake! , nice try. I see that you have no idea about the Bible. What you are describing is the story of how you reached that conclusion without reading the original source, of course. Just to illustrate, there were no Popes when the bible was written. Most of it has no ‘stories’ but teachings, prophecies, etc.
BTW, for Mr/s Gal. You can also propose to ban the dictionary; it also contain terms such as ‘homosexual’, ‘paedophilia’, etc. Also, nice try to attract Rainbow western Europe attention stating something stupid that nobody is interested in checking. Cheers
I hear the law allows gas chambers for any violation.
No masks allowed.
The bible was substantially rewritten by Pope Damascus in 382 when he commissioned Jerome to do a latin translation. Another Pope who had a hand in shaping the bible currently used by the Catholic Church was Pope Pius XII.
Teachings when in parable form are stories. Or were you there to ‘observe’ that these are hard factual events which took place? ‘Mogadon’ for the masses’ is the expression that springs to mind to describe all religion.
The bible had been written long before 382 AD. Approximately 80% was written in Hebrew (and a few chapters in Aramaic). That part, also called Old Testament, is still used by Jews and Christians. Jews did not need any translation into Latin (Vulgata), therefore any Catholic modification would be off. Modern translations, as well as many ancient ones, are translated directly from Hebrew. Once again, nothing to do with the Vulgata. On the other hand, the Vulgata Latina is just a translation with the same message as the Hebrew original (or even the Greek Septuaginta) but…in Latin.
Btw, Christian is NOT equivalent to Roman Catholic Church. What a Catholic Pope in the XX did or did not do, couldn’t change the Bible (unless he had a time machine). The same applies to the New Testament: modern versions are based on Greek manuscripts, not in any Latin version from the IV century. To see if the Catholic versions of the bible are really different (changed by a pope), you just need to compare with the Greek/Hebrew text or, if you cannot read Greek/Hebrew, you can go to other non-Catholic versions, such as Karoli or New World Translations (both in Hungarian). If you do, you’ll discover that the few differences are language based. Same if you compare UK or US versions.
Finaly, we know what a parable is and what a fact is. My first point was that the bible is neither a 1001 Nights nor a history manual. It is a religious book mostly with laws, prophecies, messages and, of course, history. It is so simple (of course, if you have read the original, and not only what some newspapers write)
